- Foot shift, both trims
The current Honda Foreman keeps the configuration choice straightforward. Both trims combine a fuel-injected, liquid-cooled 518cc engine with foot-selected gears, selectable four-wheel drive, a locking front differential and swingarm rear suspension. The main trim decision is whether you want electric power steering. Honda's 2027 Foreman specifications
Two trims, one central question
EPS adds steering assistance; it is not a larger engine or an automatic gearbox. Honda describes assistance that responds to speed and steering torque and helps reduce handlebar kickback. When comparing the trims, focus on the steering effort you prefer during your intended use. Honda's Foreman features
The gearbox has five forward gears and reverse. You choose shifts with your foot, while the clutch operates automatically. That distinction matters if the word “manual” makes you picture a hand-operated clutch lever.

Foreman or Rubicon?
The names overlap, so compare the equipment. The current Foreman uses swingarm rear suspension. The current Foreman Rubicon 520 uses independent rear suspension and includes EPS across its trims. Rubicon offers both a foot-shift version and DCT automatic versions, so wanting foot shifting does not automatically rule it out. Honda's Rubicon trim specification
For a buyer who wants the Foreman's specific controls and suspension arrangement, the two-trim comparison is a sensible starting point. If IRS or automatic gear selection is important, include the Rubicon in the shortlist. There is no need to decide from engine displacement or the model name alone.
Plan around the job
Honda publishes an 848-pound towing rating for both current Foreman trims, with front and rear rack ratings of 88 and 176 pounds. Rack capacities are separate limits, not a total vehicle-payload figure. Check the exact unit's owner's manual for loading and towing instructions, and account for fitted accessories when assessing storage or trailer space. 2027 Foreman ratings

Foreman or something else?
A short Foreman history
The Foreman name dates to 1995. Honda added an electric-shift option for 1998 and power steering for 2007. These milestones help explain the different versions found in used inventory; an older ES badge does not mean that electric shift is a current Foreman trim. Honda's Foreman history
Foreman questions
Is the current Foreman automatic?
Its clutch operates automatically, but the rider selects gears with a foot lever. Neither current Foreman trim has DCT automatic gear selection.
Does every Foreman have power steering?
No. Choose the trim with EPS in its name for electric steering assistance.
Is a Foreman Rubicon the same model?
Treat it as the Rubicon family when comparing specifications. The full name includes Foreman, but its suspension and available transmission configurations differ from the current Foreman lineup.
Does the current Foreman have IRS?
No. Both current Foreman trims use swingarm rear suspension. Compare the Rubicon if independent rear suspension is a priority.
Can I use these specifications for an older Foreman?
Match the year and exact trim first. This guide describes the 2027 U.S. models; older configurations and equipment can differ.
