The Pioneer 700 gives shoppers two important choices: how often they carry extra passengers, and which convenience features they want for everyday driving. For 2027, Honda offers the two-seat Pioneer 700 and four-seat Pioneer 700-4, each in standard, Deluxe and Forest trims.

All six share a 675cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, a three-speed automatic transmission with a hydraulic torque converter, and a 59.9-inch width. Drive selections include 2WD, 4WD and 4WD with differential lock. Their published cargo-bed and towing ratings are 1,000 and 1,500 pounds, subject to the appropriate loading and seating configuration.

Two seats or QuickFlip versatility?

Start with the people and gear you carry most often. The two-seat 700 keeps its cargo area dedicated to work. The 700-4 adds two QuickFlip seats in the bed, allowing two-, three- or four-person arrangements. Fold the rear seats away to restore the full cargo-bed layout; raise them when additional passengers are the priority.

That makes the 700-4 worth considering when your passenger needs change from one outing to the next. Bring your normal gear into the discussion, because the rear seating uses cargo-bed space. If you regularly need a dedicated second row and a separate bed, compare the Pioneer 1000-6 Crew as a different layout.

Standard, Deluxe or Forest?

Standard uses manual steering and automatic shifting. It gives you the core engine, driveline and utility layout with fewer added features.

Deluxe adds Electric Power Steering, black aluminum wheels, bed power and lighting. It also provides AT/MT selection and paddle shifters. If you expect frequent low-speed maneuvering or want to choose gears yourself, these are useful differences to experience in person.

Forest builds on the Deluxe equipment with a larger front bumper, a factory winch and TrueTimber Atera Camo. Choose it around equipment you expect to use. Its 4,500-pound winch rating is a separate specification from the vehicle’s 1,500-pound towing rating.

Useful details beyond the engine

The 2026 refresh added under-dash storage, USB-C charging, Kenda Mastodon AT tires and updates to vehicle protection. Two-seat versions also received under-bed storage compartments. These details remain part of the 2027 descriptions and are worth checking when comparing an older machine with a newer one.

Pioneer 700 or something else?

Where the Pioneer 700 began

The 700 launched for model year 2014 as the first member of Honda’s Pioneer family, with two- and four-seat configurations. Deluxe versions followed for 2017, Forest joined for 2023, and the range received another convenience-focused refresh for 2026.

Pioneer 700 questions

Which trims have power steering?

For 2027, Deluxe and Forest have EPS in both two- and four-seat configurations. Standard 700 and 700-4 models use manual steering.

Is every Pioneer 700 automatic?

Yes. The automatic has three forward gears and reverse. Deluxe and Forest also offer manual gear selection with steering-column paddles.

Can the 700-4 carry four people and use the whole bed?

The rear seats occupy part of the cargo area when raised. Honda describes full cargo-bed and tilt functionality in the two-person arrangement, with the rear seats folded. Check the exact manual before combining passengers, cargo and towing.

Does Forest have a different-sized engine?

The 2027 Forest uses the same listed 675cc engine displacement as the other 700 trims. Its main buying differences are equipment and finish.

When should I also consider a Pioneer 1000?

Compare it when you want three-across front seating, a six-speed DCT with high/low range or greater published towing capacity. The redesigned 2026 1000 Deluxe is 64 inches wide and rated to tow up to 2,500 pounds, so check both capability and fit.
